       Frequently Asked Questions

Does OnlyOne Replace my Existing Numbers?
No. You keep your home, business, and cell numbers. As a subscriber you use the OnlyOne service to "point" to where you want to take your calls, business, cell, or home.

What if I'm not available for a phone call?
OnlyOne provides every subscriber with various "statuses" that designate your availability. You may be in a meeting, traveling, or, you just may need some personal or family time (nothing wrong with that). You decide if you are available, and then you "set" your status that chooses the greeting that your callers will hear.

How will callers learn I'm not available?
OnlyOne has a set of standard statuses when you cannot take a call. These are "in a meeting," "traveling," "on vacation," and "unavailable at this time." OnlyOne's professionally recorded prompts inform callers of your status and then politely asks them to leave a message. The service also allows you to record customized statuses that the caller will hear, when you want to convey specific information, such as a specific trade show, conference or off-site meeting.

What happens if I'm "statused" as unavailable, but a family member or special client needs to talk to me right away?
OnlyOne understands that certain people should be treated special. Therefore, your OnlyOne service automatically comes with a VIP code you choose and then give to certain people (e.g. family members, care-givers, special clients, etc.). Even if you are in a meeting, or "unavailable," these individuals will be passed through immediately when they enter the VIP code.

Can OnlyOne help me save money?
Yes, in a couple of ways. In today's busy environment, business professionals often give colleagues and clients multiple numbers in order to contact them. Callers are confused and uncertain as to the "best" number to call, so invariably, they call the cell phone. With OnlyOne, the subscriber chooses when to take calls on his/her cell phone. If you are at your office or at home, it simply does not make sense to use your cell phone. Therefore, you control your cellular minutes which can decrease significantly. (Plus, you'll have a more clear conversation using a landline.) Another area of savings relates to faxing. Since your OnlyOne account can substitute as a fax machine, you will never again need to purchase, or maintain a fax machine (and in some cases, eliminate 2nd or 3rd rollover lines).
In addition, if you have more than one voicemail box, an answering service, e-fax, pager or are paying for customer calling features on your home or business lines, you can eliminate all of these service and their associated costs.
There is also the "soft" savings that comes from saving time, becoming more efficient by streamlining communications, and increasing customer loyalty by treating them with greater promptness and respect. You may also find yourself recouping lost revenue from customers who are having a more positive experience communicating with you.

Do I have to purchase any kind of equipment or computer interface?
No. OnlyOne is a service - as long as you have a phone and computer you're fine.

Will OnlyOne replace my home answering machine or my company's voice mail?
Once business associates, clients and family use your OnlyOne number as the primary means of contact, you will effectively eliminate the need for any other voice mail (or voice message-taking) device. You will need to encourage callers to use your OnlyOne as your primary number. Customers have found it useful to record a special message on their voice mail and/or answering machine that mentions using the OnlyOne number. During the period that people are becoming accustomed to OnlyOne, you may find it necessary to check your answering machine or voice mail.

How do I change my status?
Subscribers can change their status from any phone or through a members only, password-protected area on the OnlyOne web site. During training, you will also be shown how to turn your cell phone into a "remote control" device where you can easily change your status with a single touch of a button.

What type of computer do I need in order to have the OnlyOne service?
Actually, you don't need a computer to put the power of OnlyOne to work for you. Most OnlyOne features focus on making person-to-person voice communications easier. You will need a web-connected computer to read documents that are faxed to you. These arrive in your e-mail as PDF files that are easily opened by most computers. You can also listen to your voice messages, directly from your computer. In order to do this, your computer needs the appropriate sound card and the ability to open a sound file (WAV format). Your computer will also allow you to view your calls, control your settings and other options.

Many people have my old numbers. So what do I do?
Your business associates and family will still be able to reach you at your current numbers…so you should not worry. Simply start giving out your OnlyOne number to everyone, and encourage business associates, clients and family to begin using your OnlyOne number as your primary number (instead of your business, cell or home number). When someone calls a number, other than your OnlyOne, mention that they should call your OnlyOne number. It is also advisable to change your voicemail greetings on your old numbers to announce your new OnlyOne number. The transition period will not be immediate, but this small effort is worth the convenience for you and your callers.

Is OnlyOne hard to use? How long does it take someone to learn all the prompts and options?
OnlyOne is extremely easy to use. In fact, the phone interface User's Guide is a business card-sized wallet card. The system prompts are very simple, and, if you are ever not sure what to do, just wait a moment and the system guides you. There is also a simple on-line administrative menu that lets you modify your account via computer.

How does the OnlyOne fax capability work?
Your OnlyOne account can substitute as a fax machine for all fax documents that you receive. From the senders' point of view, they are simply sending a document to another fax machine. There are no special instructions to give to business colleagues. Your OnlyOne account automatically recognizes and accepts the fax, converts it to a TIFF file and deposits it into your e-mail. You simply open up the TIFF file by double-clicking the icon. If you want to print the document, simply send it to your usual printer. You can also store it on your computer or forward it to another colleague through e-mail.

I currently have an 8XX number. Can I transfer my 8XX number to OnlyOne?
Yes. There is no problem transferring your current 8XX number to your OnlyOne account.

How much does OnlyOne cost?
Pricing varies by city and area.  Email or contact us for a quote.

What does the monthly fee not include?
Your OnlyOne service has the ability to make affordable domestic long distance calls, forward fax documents (that arrive in your e-mail) to fax machines anywhere, and do conference calling. Each of these capabilities will incur a usage fee.
